We share more than just the name – Bharat!

Bharat, India, Hindustan – Our beloved nation has so many beautiful names. It has even more number of states, religions, languages, etc. The diversity is so vast, it becomes difficult to classify everything in simple terms! With a culture so rich & a heritage that dates way back, India has come a long way. Our history states all the ups and downs that our nation has gone through. Yet, it stood this test of time. Still going so strong, still undergoing changes, adapting to the variations of the world! In fact, India is connected somehow to almost every nation of the world through history. Our nation is called a “developing nation” – we say that is a good thing. “Developed” is something that has stopped, whereas “developing” is a continuous process and we will keep moving further!
Bharat Floorings Group has lived it all with India for over 90 years. It has become synonymous with words like heritage, architecture, culture, royalty, premium, classic, contemporary, ethnic, etc. It adorns most of the timeless architectural marvels across Mumbai and beyond. In 1920s, the Heritage Collection was embodied by some of the iconic structures like the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, the High Court, the Jehangir Art Gallery, Bombay University, Bombay Gymkhana and Readymoney Mansion. However, due to Art Deco movement, the decorative style changed and the floral patterns from Bharat Floorings became obsolete. Come 2000s, vintage styles started resurfacing and so did the Heritage Collection. It was widely used as a part of restoration of Bhau Daji Lad Museum and BMC Headquarters. In 2008, Bharat Floorings was chosen by architect Tejal Mathur for carpeting Pali Village Café in Bandra to give it an old, chic and typically Bombay look. Comparably, the tiled carpet at The Royal Bombay Yacht Club gave it a rich and classy look. According to Firdaus Variava, the Vice Chairman, “Earlier, yellows, red, greens and blacks were the most common colours as they could be developed naturally. But today, people prefer subtle pastel shades.” With changing times and evolving trends, Bharat Floorings has been consistently coming up with new collections.

Bharat Floorings is known for their durability. Surprisingly, the Heritage Tiles are handcrafted and it takes upto 45 days to deliver it from the time of purchase. The Heritage Collection tiles can last upto three generations. Some other landmark installations include the Metro Cinema, Mumbai Airport, Churchgate Station, Max Mueller Bhavan, the Mint, Mantralaya, Air India Building, Taj Mahal Intercontinental and the list goes on. Their finesse is not only confined to Mumbai. It goes way beyond. Some other phenomenal installations include the palace-residences of the Maharajas of Bikaner, Kolhapur, Palanpur, Mysuru and Porbandar, Madras University, Salarjung Museum in Hyderabad, Bangalore Club, and so on.

Heritage Collection is indeed the Superstar variant of Bharat Floorings. However, STILAN ® nonslip range is another variant that is considered exceptionally durable, that has been gracing the Mumbai CST Railway Station for more than 15 years.

Bharat Floorings recently came up with a collection called “Made in India” which is inspired from various traditional aspects of different parts of the country.

Bharat Floorings is the only company in India to provide a blend of handcrafted heritage and contemporary flooring and is a total one stop solution of design, installation, production & maintenance to convert customer aspiration in to reality since 90 yrs. Even today it still continues with the same tradition of being quality-conscious and very niche. Their production is not massive, it’s more about passion and enjoying making something beautiful. Bharat Floorings has been a part of India’s heritage and still continues to be. It was conceived as a part of The Swadeshi Movement. Bharat Floorings enhances the ethnic aura of the heritage structures of India. Likewise, these Heritage structures, too are ideal for being manifested with the tiles from Bharat Floorings. India and Bharat Floorings literally share a common heritage, they co-exist, rather complement each other beautifully.
