The One Stop Shop !

I don’t like tea, but I love coffee. Coffee is the one thing that can lift my spirits high at any given time, be it 7 in the morning or midnight. And the variations that are available just add to the simulative nature of this simple beverage. Espresso, cappuccino and latte are the most popular ones amongst others that simply get to your soul. Now, being a coffee maniac, won’t you love a place with all the available variations under one single roof? I surely would. Now imagine a brand with products with a character as prodigious as the coffee, and complementing services all under one single domain. Bharat Floorings and Tiles is a brand with preceding reputation when it comes to products and services. Apart from the vivid collection of tile designs and patterns, Bharat Floorings offers a segment of additional services. Customising the Floor Design : At Bharat Floorings, we like to leave nothing to chance and like our customers to get exactly the kind of floor that they en

We share more than just the name – Bharat!

Bharat, India, Hindustan – Our beloved nation has so many beautiful names. It has even more number of states, religions, languages, etc. The diversity is so vast, it becomes difficult to classify everything in simple terms! With a culture so rich & a heritage that dates way back, India has come a long way. Our history states all the ups and downs that our nation has gone through. Yet, it stood this test of time. Still going so strong, still undergoing changes, adapting to the variations of the world! In fact, India is connected somehow to almost every nation of the world through history. Our nation is called a “developing nation” – we say that is a good thing. “Developed” is something that has stopped, whereas “developing” is a continuous process and we will keep moving further! Bharat Floorings Group has lived it all with India for over 90 years. It has become synonymous with words like heritage, architecture, culture, royalty, premium, classic, contemporary, ethnic, etc. It a

Made in India

The Make in India wave has been taking the country by storm. Patriotism has been at its peak after a very long time with everyone displaying how loyal and inclined they are towards the development and glorification of our motherland. While some are trying to successfully fit in, others are using it as a turf to grow. When Bharat Floorings decided to introduce a collection of tiles inspired by the various regions from India, the sole purpose was to appreciate the rich cultural heritage of our country; because Make in India is a principle we’ve already been following since the pre-independence era. Bharat Floorings in association with Idea Spice Design Studio selected six diverse states with rich cultural heritage spread across India. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra, all have a significant contribution towards shaping the existing structure of the modern yet traditional Indian society. The first state, Madhya Pradesh, is a large state in

The Festive Hangouts!

India is a land of religions and festivals. Each religion has its own significance and a traditional way of expression. Diwali is one such major festival in the country. Called as the festival of lights, Diwali marks the day when Lord Rama returned to his home city of Ayodhya after spending 14 years in exile. Festival of lights? Is it as simple as - since the entire city had been illuminated to welcome the young Prince back home, or could it be a metaphor with a deeper meaning? Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Diwali not only brightens up the neighbourhood but also our lives. It is that time of the year when celebrations are the top priority of every household. It’s time for guiltless indulgence in mouth watering sweets, delicious food and bursting crackers. All the relatives, including the cute little cousins and annoying aunties, visit each other to exchange festive greetings. All this cheerful hus

Japanese Art meets Indian Heritage

Japanese culture has greatly evolved with influences from Asia, Europe and North America. Is it ironic that at the same time the contemporary world has taken inspiration from ancient Japanese art techniques? Crafting techniques for ceramics and textiles have caught the attention of many art lovers and designers across the globe. It’s not just the technique or the resulting art but the combination of both that makes it so popular. When Shonali Mahajan mentioned Shibori, we were as excited as a small child in a candy shop. Shibori is an ancient Japanese technique of producing patterns on fabric, and what we were contemplating was producing them upon cement tiles. Another challenge was being able to strike the right balance between this ancient technique and contemporary acceptance. Shonali, the founder of Studio Wodehouse, is an excellent visualiser and her work in the field of interior designing has been unquestionable. Studio Wodehouse dismantled the typical patterns into singu

Typography is a very interesting domain. One can create visually stunning content just by choosing the arrangement, font style and type, for alphabets and words. The written communication can be put forth in a much exciting way through typography, thus making it easier to remember or recall. Numerous advertising agencies and designers opt for this technique to create impressive campaigns and visually amiable content. They use it to convey the mood and establish the nature of their brands. Some major brands use typography to create their logos and monograms. Famous brands like Google, Coca-Cola, Canon, etc. have been using typography infused to their names as their logos, and that has been registered in the minds of the consumers as the brand identity globally. Since these brands and their logos have constantly been a part of our lives, we would find it difficult to imagine or accept them otherwise. Knowing what to place where is equally important. Not every typographical

Past - Present - Perfect!

India is a country of a vast cultural heritage. From ancient cities like that of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa to imperial colonies of the British rule, India has been a host to distinct cultures and rituals. Great civilizations have flourished and perished on this rich land embedding traces of their varied culture deep into the traditions and lifestyle of the contemporary Indian society. While people celebrate Friendship Day and Valentine’s Day in tune with the western world, they also celebrate Raksha Bandhan which has numerous historic references. People remember and people like to be remembered. In this pursuit many objects have been created that today we call artefacts. Artefacts or antiques are nothing but items with cultural or historic significance that gain value as years turn into decades and decades into centuries. The older the artefact the more valuable it is. There are people who passionately collect artefacts, known as antiquarians, and they do not mind spending a fortune

Bharat Floorings & Tiles - A Rich Heritage

Heritage is something that is handed down from the past; a tradition that is embedded with honour, pride, and courage. At least that's how a popular dictionary defines it. And, yes, we agree. Decades ago a very enthusiastic brand was born with a patriotic vision - a brand that we know as Bharat Floorings and Tiles. Bharat Floorings is nothing less than a heritage that has been passed down from the pre-independence era to the contemporary society. At Bharat Floorings it is believed that every floor tells a story. So what could tell the story of such a brand better than the ir Heritage™ collection of tiles themselves? The tiles were first manufactured in  the 1920s and are custom designed to create stunning floors. Each cement tile is hand-crafted from the finest, carefully selected ingredients, aesthetically blended to create a high quality tile of rich and glowing colours. Elegant and durable, they are nothing less than works of art and representative of our country’s ri

The Perfect Combination!

Riyaaz Amlani, the man behind Impresario, has changed the face of socialising with his ambitious and solid projects in metropolitan cities across the nation. He has come a long way from stumbling upon small pebbles to scaling high mountains in the restaurant and hospitality industry. His ventures include the likes of Social, Salt Water Café, Smoke House Deli and Mocha to name a few. Talking about Social in particular often peaks our interest. This brainchild of Amlani is something that even we are proud of. Well, of course it is one of the most coming of age hangouts where artists meet designers, innovators meet entrepreneurs, photographers and writers meet web developers and where creative individuals share their ideas with like-minded people. However, there is more to it. Social at Colaba has a very unorthodox yet rustic charisma to it that makes you fall in love with the place the moment you step in. From the ligneous furniture to the typical ‘chai’ glasses for serving water

A Walk down Memory Lane

To paraphrase a lovable character from a memorable film - "“Memories are like a box of chocolates…once you open, you can't just eat one piece”. We recently realised how true that can be when Mrs. Dilnavaz Variava, Chairperson of Bharat Floorings and Tiles, recalled the landscape of the place from where Bharat Floorings started its journey. Mrs. Variava is the youngest of all the cousins who share cherished memories of growing up while history was being written around them.  Reading the stories and experiencing all of it first hand is a totally different matter. So when Mrs. Variava found this picture, and shared those fond memories with not only her family but also with the entire team at BFT, we decided to share it online - with you, our extended family. Mrs. Variava fondly describes Bharat’s first tile factory, built in Mora, Uran, in the sheds where her father’s family once distilled liqueur from a variety of fruits and flowers for the crowds who arrived in sailing

Welcome Abode!

The Heritage™ Walk held in association with photographer Kuber Shah was quite a success and the response we gathered was simply amazing. The walk placed Bharat Floorings in the hearts and minds of our followers and proved to be an efficient tool to connect with them. During the walk we paid a visit to a few select places of architectural significance in south Mumbai where we have installed our prestigious Heritage™ tiles. One of those was Abode – a beautiful boutique hotel located near the Gateway of India! The Instagrammers found a little piece of paradise inside Abode, with the beautiful décor at the place creating the perfect frame for them to capture unique stories through their lens.    Visiting Abode was special also because just like Bharat Floorings, Abode too has a remarkable history of over a century. Established by David Sassoon as his private residence back then, Abode was later acquired by a local family who ran it as a small guesthouse and years later was finally

The Heritage™ Walk

Visuals have a larger impact on how well we remember things. We remember some of our childhood stories better maybe because we read them or saw them on television. It is also about how well an artist tells a story that makes a lasting impression. The world is full of stories if you’re careful enough to notice. Some find a story beyond the imaginable while others in the simplest of things. What makes a good story is the art of presenting it to the audience. In this world driven by technology, it is as difficult to awe people as simple it is to reach out to them. Many modern story tellers have discovered an apt tool that has helped their stories reach thousands of people. A tool that we know as Instagram, and the story tellers – Instagrammers! It was the second day and the first Saturday morning of April when Bharat Floorings welcomed a select few Instagrammers for a walk that would go on to become an amazing experience for everyone involved. BFT had been planning The Heritage™ Wa

Paradise in the Hills

What follows after a long and tiring week is the desire to escape the routine. Some people find rejuvenation at one of the fancy places in the city crowded with people who come together with a similar motive to celebrate the weekend, while others believe in catharsis in the midst of natural serenity. For the latter kind, many scenic hill stations not too far from the city have loyally served the purpose. A popular getaway for city folks is Lonavala, in the Pune district of Maharashtra. This tiny hill station is located at a distance of 96 kilometres from Mumbai and comfortably connected by the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. What’s more exciting than a hill station being easily accessible is to own a palatial farmhouse at such a lovely location. Nidhi Kanoi is one of those lucky few. Working as one of the directors at the Mumbai based TechFab India, Nidhi more than deserves and takes pride in her getaway home. Rishita Das and Rushda Hakim, partners at Design Office, and two of youngest, brigh

Celebrating Womanhood

The contemporary Indian society depicts women in various forms ranging from homemakers to corporate CEOs and from soldiers to doctors. Not only this but our country is often referred to as Bharat Mata (Mother India), and we also speak of the wilderness as Mother Nature. Women have been entitled to equal powers and amenities by various governing authorities across the globe. With March 8 being celebrated as International Women’s Day every year, we at Bharat Floorings and Tiles stand to celebrate the women around us not just for a single day but through the entire course of time. We have been working on collaborations with some immensely talented designers who have been instrumental in creating the current landscape of some major locations across the country. Here are some of them. To start with, we would like to introduce Tejal Mathur whose profile outlines work in the field of interior design and architecture covering the domains of residential, retail and commercial spaces.
