Heritage
is something that is handed down from the past; a tradition that is embedded
with honour, pride, and courage. At least that's how a popular dictionary defines it. And,
yes, we agree. Decades ago a very enthusiastic brand was born with a patriotic vision - a brand
that we know as Bharat Floorings and Tiles. Bharat Floorings is nothing less
than a heritage that has been passed down from the pre-independence era to the
contemporary society.
At
Bharat Floorings it is believed that every floor tells a story. So what could
tell the story of such a brand better than their Heritage™ collection
of tiles themselves? The tiles were first manufactured in the 1920s and are custom
designed to create stunning floors. Each cement tile is hand-crafted from the
finest, carefully selected ingredients, aesthetically blended to create a high
quality tile of rich and glowing colours. Elegant and durable,
they are nothing less than works
of art and representative of our country’s rich architectural heritage. The
tiles were installed at important and popular buildings of that era, but sadly
disappeared with time. After a very long absence, the tiles
were reintroduced in 1999 during the first Kala Ghoda Arts festival. The
traditional processes were used with the original moulds to bring the Heritage™ tiles back
to life. Since then, the Heritage™ tiles have been a constant
favourite amongst top designers and architects, be it for a
private residence, commercial space or restoration of an
iconic building.
The
Heritage™ tiles have a
vast variety of sub-categories classified into distinct collections based upon
their designs and patterns, and their usage. Beautifully flowing floral designs
make up the Bloom Collection. They are based on nature, are easy on
the eye and adaptable
to any type of decor.
Trendy
designs
based on 3D patterns are very
interesting since they create a form of contemporary art without any borders.
These patterns together make up the Cubist Collection.
The Geometrique Collection is a perfect choice for commercial as well as personal spaces with strong, bold lines and direct, focused themes with definite shapes.
A very unique collection from the Heritage™ tiles is the Graphic Collection. Each tile with a certain pattern is complete within itself, unlike other Heritage™ patterns that need four tiles to be combined for the pattern to be complete.
The classic heritage look is best provided by the Heirloom Collection that contains all the designs of Bharat Floorings that have a very traditional and period look. Some of the oldest designs can be still found in this collection but with certain alterations.
The
Heritage™ tiles are
used at a variety of places ranging from private residences to museums. Some of
the popular places that flaunt these
beautiful tiles from the various Heritage™ collections are the
Taj Mahal Tea House, Pizza Express, The Pantry, Royal Bombay Yacht Club, Abode
– a boutique hotel, The Nutcracker Cafe, Pali Village Cafe, British Brewing
Company and Elle decor winner – The Library House, among others.
Next
time when you visit any of these places, pay attention to the tiles, they have
a story to tell; one that proudly flaunts the fact that the future is
built on the foundation of its past, a rich & glorious past at that!
